Codealong turns every lesson into a pair learning experience. Pause the video, change the code, run it, think through the challenges and get instant feedback on them.
Pair program with the instructor
Not in a screen recording, but in an interactive IDE that combines video and code together.
Then it’s your turn
Solve challenges and get instant feedback.
We use the Socratic method to help you think through problems instead of just providing the answer.
Your learning journey
Featuring the Backend Engineering Path. From the basics to the advanced, everything explained in detail.
Learn Go
Start with an interactive Go Tour, by building an HTTP router.
Learn Go by building your own HTTP router from raw strings. Structs, slices, maps and functions, all in one real project.
Build a Redis clone
Get exposed to real software engineering challenges by building a Redis clone.
Goroutines, channels, mutexes and pointers, learned where they actually bite: your own Redis clone serving concurrent clients.
Build a web API
Learn the fundamentals of good API design and how to implement them in Go.
How servers actually work, from the request line up to a JSON API built on net/http and nothing else.
Databases
Master the fundamentals of relational databases and SQL.
The SQL a backend engineer writes every day: queries, joins and schema design, against real Postgres in your browser.

Interactive Learning
reimagined from scratch
Every lesson is a real editor, with a whiteboard, a terminal and a Go runtime.

It’s like VS Code and YouTube got merged togetherno more tab switching.
We learn best by practicing
No more passive watching, during a codealong you'll get challenged to think and solve through problems on your own.

If you’re learning Go or looking for a place to learn it, check out @codealongdev. A friend of mine, @tiago_taquelim_, built it, and I’ve had the chance to use it myself. What I really like is that you’re not just watching a video and then trying to recreate everything on your own. The lesson and the coding environment are right there in your browser. You can pause the lesson, take over the editor, change the code, run it, and then continue. The courses are also built around actual projects. You can start by building an HTTP router and then work your way up to building your own Redis, learning things like goroutines, channels, mutexes, and pointers along the way. There’s AI feedback when you get stuck too, but it nudges you toward the solution instead of just giving you the answer. It’s currently focused on Go, and I think it’s a really interesting way to learn the language.

Learning from codealong.dev for a while now (before public release I think), Here you can pair program with teacher, code, draw, note on the same place. This interaction is what separates @codealongdev from another online course, that you give up on after sometime.
Frequently asked
Yes, you can enjoy free lessons in most courses and you get all of the interactive features for free.
After you complete all of the free lessons, you can decide if you want to become a PRO member, where you'll have unlimited access to all lessons, all challenges, certificates, and unlimited AI feedback usage.
Codealong is designed to make learning software engineering more engaging: which means unlike traditional video courses, our platform allows you to interact with the code in real-time, providing immediate feedback and a hands-on learning experience, this in turn leads to better retention and understanding.
Because of AI there is an increasing demand for highly skilled developers that are able to think critically and solve complex problems. The barrier to write code is lower than ever, but this also raises the bar for excellence.
Developers that are able to really understand the fundamentals and apply them in real-world scenarios are in demand, and that will never change.
